After this you will be able to;
- Explain how job type templates can speed up the work creation process
- Create job templates with predefined data to support effective workforce management
Exploring job templates
When creating jobs within the Skedulo Web App, one of the first required fields is the job type. An administrator can configure job templates so that when a job type is selected, various fields and job information is automatically populated.
Before you start. creating job templates you will need all your base data and supporting base data is entered in, as job types can link and reference various types of records.

How ‘I Choose Me’ are using job templates
In pervious lessons we followed along with I Choose Me as Julia and Robert set up their Skedulo solution. Let’s follow along with Julia and Robert as an example use case when creating job templates.
Job templates are not required but I Choose Me will be utilising them to produce the following outcomes;
- Speed up work creation – Inside a job template, the duration can be pre-defined. Most services ‘I Choose Me’ offers go for 60 minutes except for ‘Nutritional advice’ and ‘Events and info sessions’ that go for 90 minutes. The default duration for each service type will be added against the job templates.
- Streamline the allocation process – By using tags that represent the service types and adding them against the job templates, schedulers will only see suggested resources that can deleiver the service, filtering out resources that can’t deliver the service type.
- Pre-defined work instructions – Jobs can contain job tasks that can be allocated against work that resources can check off within the mobile app while delivering services. Each service type has a number of actions the deskless workers must perform before completing the work. Tasks specific to each job type will be allocated against the templates.

Creating job templates
The Skedulo Web App offers a range of settings and configuration options to customise various workflows, user capabilities and more! Job templates are managed within the Web App settings screen, that can only be accessed by administrators which is a system capability that is managed against the user record.

I Choose Me job templates
Now that you know how to navigate to the job template screen, let’s take a look at how I Choose Me configured them to meeting their needs. Each template has been set up with only the default information that all jobs of that type will need. Once the template is applied to a job during the creation process schedulers are free to make amendments as required.
Let’s dive into some of I Choose Me job types to see how their templates have been configured.
